A salary is a number in an offer letter. Pay is what reaches your account. This site exists for the gap between the two.
Job decisions get made on the wrong number. People compare base salaries and ignore the equity, the 401(k) match, the commuting hours and the unpaid overtime that decide whether one job is actually better than another. Every tool here is built around that gap, and each one shows the components separately so you can see which item is doing the work.
Federal tax brackets, the standard deduction and marginal rates come from IRS Revenue Procedure 2025-32 for tax year 2026. Social Security and Medicare rates and the contribution base come from the Social Security Administration and IRS Publication 15. State figures are representative effective rates for a middle-income filer, not exact statutory schedules, and are labelled as approximate wherever they appear.
They are not tax preparation software and not a substitute for professional advice. Payroll withholding depends on your Form W-4, benefits elections, local taxes and mid-year changes that a general calculator cannot know. Use the output to understand the shape of an offer and to ask better questions, and verify anything binding with a qualified professional.
Where a page recommends a product or service, the link may be an affiliate link and marked as such. Affiliate relationships never change the results a calculator produces, and no tool here requires you to click anything.
